The original Christ Church Down Street building was erected by F. Et H. Francis in 1865, as a new parish church following the sub-division of St George's Hannover Square.After a fire in 1906 the building was partly rebuilt, adding the flowing stone tracery to the East window and the straight parapet on the south elevation replacing the original gables.
