Top 10 bride hair styles: bridal hairstyles for people with thick hair, curly hair and tiaras

Wow, if I have to read one more magazine or flip through one more hair style book to pick out hair for my special day I think I'm going to scream. The last thing I need is all of this stress. It's my wedding; I want it to be special, not agonizing!

I took a short cut and I'm sharing what I learned with you. Hopefully you won't have to fret as much as I did over your hair. I can bet with certainty that one of the hair styles on my list will make you look great for your special day.

1. The French Twist

Okay, so this style is a classic. It's been around for ages. We've seen it at proms, we've seen it in court room; we've seen it everywhere. Something this classic though is the first stop. If your hair is medium length you can smooth back the strays with gel. If your hair is long you can add more curls or twists to give this classic a bit more pizzazz!

2. Long Layers

So this is one of my personal favorites. I have long, thick, naturally wavy hair. My gown is off of the shoulders and with my long layers flowing under my veil, yeah, I'm sure to render the room speechless! Long layers can also give life to thinner hair that sometimes lacks live and movement. For a bride who doesn't want to spend 4 hours getting bobby pinned into her hair, this is truly a great choice.

3. Natural Curls

Okay, so this category isn't for me, but it might be for you. Stop killing your hair with ceramic irons and chemicals. Relish the curls! Tuck in a delicate hair band or some decorative baubles and let everyone swoon and wish that had your hair. Mops of curls are good for some ladies, but I prefer seeing curls kept natural and soft.

4. Princess Bride

Okay, so I've hit a style for medium hair and for long hair. I've given you an option for straight hair and for curly hair, but I'm leaving out a group of ladies! For short hair in a wedding, I absolutely adore tiaras! Crystal tiaras tend to get lost in long hair or in large elaborate hair styles, but with a short hair do, these sparkling ornaments are the perfect touch.

5. Chignon Bun

Not just for ballerinas anymore! The bun it's easy, it's quick, it's stylish, and it's simple! You can pin your veil into the bottom of your chignon and it looks fantastic! This style is a lot like the French twist and works well on medium and long lengths of hair. You can wear it loose or snug to the head, either way, it's a classic and elegant choice for a wedding hair style.

6. Finger Waves

This hair style walked right out of the 1930's and right back in to today. Small finger waves or larger pin held curls can make a bold unforgettable statement. This hair style works on any length of hair but I think I prefer it on shorter hair. I'm not sure I'm quite fashion forward enough to pull this style off, but maybe you can?

7. Whimsical Tendrils

Some hair for weddings is so harsh and drastic. The hair is sleek and gelled and doesn't move. Even from my own prom days, I've been a fan of whimsy and movement in my hair styles. When my hair is up, I like to leave some loose whimsical tendrils. I think they soften my features and make my face seem less rigid.

8. Braided

Okay, so this has got to be one of the simplest styles I've selected. Like the bun and twist, it can be varied, modified, and made to suit your tastes. Braiding and weaving hair is a great way to deal with extremely long hair when you insist on wearing it up.

9. Loose Pony Tail

Okay, so this is another hair style that is so simple you can probably save yourself the money and time at the salon and manage it on your own. Loose pony tails are great for brides with thick hair, wavy hair, or curly hair. Adding a decorative comb or clip to the hair style and you're ready to walk down the aisle in no time! I'm all for quick, easy, and low stress on my big day.

10. Artistic

So, if you're truly brave and determined to make your wedding stand out, you could have your hair sculpted into a piece of art. Though, if you want to stand out but not quite that much, go for something a bit more artistic. Most often, these outspoken styles are combinations of the other styles I've already mentioned.
