As with bridal shoes, shoes for the mother of the bride are a subtle but important piece of the mother of the bride outfit. Mother of the bride shoes (not to mention mother of the groom shoes, wouldn’t want to forget her either!)  don’t want to be too shabby, but in the same way they don’t want to outshine the dress – who wants to be looking at feet anyway?

The mother of the bride footwear should be subtle and obviously match the rest of her outfit – it’s no good having the nicest shoes in the world if they’re the wrong colour!Remember, if you’re wearing a longer mother of the bride dress then it’s not so important to have shoes that look perfect, but if you have a higher skirt line then her footwear comes more into focus.

 

People won’t look down on you for wearing plain jane shoes – whereas they might if they are overly showy and posh. Make a judgement on the wedding theme and the overall nature of the day.

 

Mother of the bride shoes come in at all prices – it’s worth spending a touch more to get ones that match, but in the same way you can get some bargains that do as well so shop around. We all love a good shopping session anyway so there shouldn’t be a problem there…

 

Certainly if your choice of mother of the bride shoes isn’t the most comfortable – wear them in beforehand to ease the material and soften it up, and if they still don’t feel right for long periods of time it may well be worth taking a back up pair for the evening’s entertainment.Dress for your age! Your daughter will no doubt be mightily embarrassed if your mother of the bride shoes are a little, well, young and flash for yourself. It might show her up a little too, so consider her needs as well as your own.


 

It’s about the look, not the name, so designer mother of the bride shoes are not necessarily the best option. They’ll certainly be the priciest too, so you might be better off elsewhere.

Finally if you have flat and smooth soled shoes, consider if you can scoring some grip into the bottom to avoid any embarrassing slips on the big day!
