Chinese Wedding Traditions – The Three Letters
As mentioned previously, Chinese wedding tradition dictates that the marriage is initiated and finalised by the “Three Letters”. These are:
•    Request letter – from the groom’s family to the family of the bride, formal requesting permission to marry
•    Gift letter – sent with the gifts to the bride’s family before the wedding
•    Wedding letter – sent on the day of the wedding by the family of the groom to accept the bride into their house
