How to plan the perfect marriage proposal

A girl’s worst nightmare is being proposed to in a common and predictable way! Although your girl might not say to you exactly what she wants, you have to think big! Girls love people fussing over them, being surprised and being caught off-guard (well, sometimes), so why not break away from the cliché and go for something completely different!

Take a look at some of these wedding proposals to give you some inspiration for your own big day!

In 2011, Matt Still persuaded his then girlfriend Ginny to go to the cinema on date night. His unknowing girlfriend was in for a big surprise! Matt had created a fake trailer to be played before the film the followed his journey to the theatre to pop the question. Everyone in the room was in tears – happy ones! What a romantic and exciting way to be proposed to, without question, his girlfriend Ginny said yes!

If that doesn’t take your fancy, why not try something similar to Tom Fletcher (one of the McFly boys!) We know this was his wedding speech, but there is no reason why it can’t turn into a proposal song! Tom put together a mash-up of all of Mcfly’s top hits and altered the words to fit in with his family and new wife Giovanna Falcone (now Fletcher!) Now what girl would not love this!

Why not follow in the footsteps of some celebrity proposals! Tom cruise proposed to Katie Holmes in the early hours of the morning in front of the Eiffel Tower, after just 2 months of dating! He commented on this special day saying ‘I haven’t slept all day. Today is a magnificent day for me. I’m engaged to a magnificent woman!’ . Aww how romantic, now we know this is a bit of a cliché, but in one of the most romantic cities, in front of an iconic landmark – that is the place to be.

Take a look at Robbie Williams and Ayda Field, and of course Robbie had a great proposal up his sleeve! Robbie is a firm believer in mysticism and explained that when he had a deck of cards – he would split the pack and always come up with a Queen of Hearts (this is how he knew Ayda was the one!). So he took this and incorporated it into his proposal. He took 4 queen cards from a deck of cards and handed them to Ayda. Once turned over, each card had a different word on it spelling out ‘Will you Marry Me’! – How sweet! Take it back to something that relates to your relationship, a funny memory, your first date, first awkward moment, something that you both remember and incorporate that into your proposal and your blushing bride will be sure to love it!
