Seven Steps to Perfect Bridal Make up

Picture perfect make-up is essential on the big day, and there are many steps you can take to becoming a blushing bride. There’s nothing worse than a wedding day disaster so it’s essential to prepare in advance, follow these 7 steps before and on the big day and you will most definitely be looking the part.

1. Drink water

Keeping your skin hydrated in the months running up to your wedding will give you a healthy looking glow. It is recommended to drink around 2.5 litres of water per day which is the equivalent of 9 glasses.

2. Spray tan

If you aren’t embracing the pale look for your wedding this year then it is recommended to get a spray tan 2 days in advance. Spray tans tend to darken on the first and second day leaving you with a perfect result on the third; they carry less risk than DIY tanning as they won’t leave you with any marks or smudges.

3. Primer

Use a face primer before applying foundation as this will keep your make up on all day. There are many primers out there to choose from, a highly recommended one is Smashbox Photo Finish Primer which is priced at around £29. Apply a thin layer after moisturising for full effect!

4. Foundation

One of the most sought after beauty products, foundation is essential! Bear in mind, if you’re having a spray tan you may want a slightly darker foundation to match the rest of your body. Yellow tone foundations are most recommended for a natural finish, make sure you know what kind of coverage you want to go for. Estee Lauder Double Wear foundation is ideal for a long lasting foundation with great coverage to give you that picture perfect look.

5. Concealer

Apply concealer after your foundation to brighten the area under your eyes. Concealer is also ideal for covering any unwanted blemishes that may appear on your big day. Mac is great for concealer, they offer a huge range of colours and it’s priced at only £14.

6. Powder

It’s important to set the base make up with a translucent powder, a recommended one is Mac Mineralize Skinfinish powder.

7. False Eyelashes

False lashes are the perfect finish to any eye make-up but make sure you go for the natural look; you don’t want to be looking like you are going on a night out. Complete the look with a touch of mascara to blend the eyelashes; don’t forget to buy waterproof mascara if you fear you may be shedding a tear on your big day!
